The University of Konstanz campus map provides you with orientation. The staff of the I-Point at the main entrance will be happy to assist you with directions.

Building opening hours

Travel by train

Train station destination: Hauptbahnhof Konstanz (main train station).

In front of the train station you can take buses 9A and 9B directly to the central bus stop on campus, next to building W.

Travel by bus

These buses stop at the the central bus stop on campus, next to building W:

Lines 9A and 9B:

Get on e.g. at central station, get off at the "Universität" stop.

Line 11:

Get on e.g. at the Wollmatingen train station, get off at the "Universität" stop.

Line 4/13:

Get on e.g. at the central station, get off at the "Egg/Universität" stop. The university and the sports facilities can be reached via a signposted footpath.

Travel by ferry

From Meersburg with the vehicle ferry to Konstanz. Bus line 11 will take you directly to the university.

Alternatively you can take bus line 1 (bus stop is at the harbour) to the “Sternenplatz” stop. Transfer to bus line 9A or 9B (please walk through the pedestrian tunnel to the other side of the street).

Travel by bicycle

To bike to the university, take Friedrichstrasse up from Zaehringerplatz. The street name will change to Universitaetsstrasse and lead you directly to the university’s main entrance.

The city of Konstanz provides information (in German) about biking in Konstanz, including how to take bicycles on trains or buses. An overview of bike routes is available in the city biking map (in German).

There are plenty of bicycles for rent in Konstanz: 150 “konrad” rental bikes in addition to 26 “TINK” rental bikes for transporting larger items. You can use any of the 15 “konrad” stations or any of the 13 “TINK” stations to pick up a bike.

Travel by vehicle

From Stuttgart (180 km)

Autobahn A 81 (motorway) towards Singen. From exit "Kreuz Hegau" onwards, you will find signs for Konstanz. Once in Konstanz, follow the signs for “Universität”.

From Munich (220 km)

Autobahn A 96 (motorway) towards Lindau. In Lindau, take B 31 towards Meersburg. From Meersburg, take the vehicle ferry to Konstanz. Once in Konstanz, follow the signs for “Universität”

From Zurich (75 km)

Autobahn A7 (motorway) towards Kreuzlingen/Konstanz. After crossing the border into Germany, first follow the signs for “Mainau”. Then follow the signs for "Universität“.

You may park your vehicle for 1.50 Euro per day in one of the university parking lots - signs lead you to them. Further information regarding parking (location, hours, etc.).

Parking at Parkplatz Nord

Parking tickets

A new ticketing system for the Parkplatz Nord car park was introduced on 3 December 2018. The parking fee is € 1.50 per day for single entry/exit. If you need to enter and leave the car park more than once, you can purchase a two-euro day ticket to do so.

How to purchase a parking ticket:

  • When entering the car park, request your ticket by pushing the yellow button at the entrance barrier.
  • Use one of the pay machines in the car park to pay for your ticket before leaving (change is given). You can pay for your ticket using the following:
    • Coins (€ 0.10, € 0.20, € 0.50, € 1.00, € 2.00) and notes (€ 5, € 10, € 20)
    • Bank card and PIN number
    • You can request a receipt once you have paid for your ticket.
  • Please leave the car park immediately after paying for your ticket.

Towing

Above Parkplatz Nord and by the Kinderhaus childcare centre there are reserved (bus) parking spaces. Any vehicles using these spaces without the university's red parking card will be towed. Towing fees run about € 180. If your vehicle was towed, please contact the I-Point at the university's main entrance to find out where you can reclaim it. Warning signs will be placed by these reserved parking spaces.

No vehicles may be parked anywhere on Eggerhaldestrasse, as indicated by the signs at the street entrance. Any vehicles parked there will be towed.

If you experience problems using the pay machines, please press the call button, which will connect you to PBW’s 24/7 control room. Both the pay machines and the entrance and exit terminals have call buttons.

Have you lost your ticket?

Please use the call button on the pay machines to talk to the PBW team. They will issue a replacement ticket for you.

Parking at Parkplatz Ost and the sports facilities

Parking tickets

The Parkplatz Ost and sports facilities car parks are freely accessible. Once you have parked your car, please proceed to the ticket machines and purchase a one-day parking ticket for € 1.50.

You can also purchase a monthly parking ticket that is valid for 30 days. During this period, you are free to enter and leave the car park as you please.

How to purchase a parking ticket:

  1. Park your car in any available parking space.
  2. Use the ticket machine to pay for a ticket
  3. Enter your licence plate number into the ticket machine. For example: If your licence plate reads: S-KN 2018 => please enter: 2018
  4. Please pay the exact amount due: € 14.00. The machine does not give change.
  5. Request your printed ticket by pressing the green button.
  6. Place the ticket on top of your dash where it can be easily seen through the front window.

The old chip cards will no longer work in the ticket machines.

You may only park in the car parks if parking spaces are available. If there are none, you will need to park elsewhere, even if you have purchased a monthly parking ticket for the car park. Your monthly ticket is only valid for the car park where you purchased it. There is no guarantee that space will be available for you in the car park.

Parking at Parkhaus Süd

Parking tickets

  • When entering the car park, request your ticket by pushing the yellow button at the entrance barrier.
  • Use one of the pay machines in the car park to pay for your ticket before leaving (change is given). There are two pay machines in the entrance area on levels A and B. You can pay for your ticket using the following:
    • Coins (€ 0.10, € 0.20, € 0.50, € 1.00, € 2.00) and notes (€ 5, € 10, € 20)
    • Bank card and PIN number
    • Please note that you can no longer pay for your ticket using SMS & Park. The Parkplatz Ost and sports facilities car parks remain unaffected by these changes. You can continue to pay using the ticket machines or SMS & Park.
    • You can request a receipt once you have paid for your ticket.
  • Please leave the car park immediately after paying for your ticket.
