Janhvi Kapoor was born on 6th March 1997. Her father is the film producer Boney Kapoor, the son of the late filmmaker Surinder Kapoor, and her mother is the actress Sridevi. She is the niece of film actors Anil and Sanjay Kapoor. Her younger sister, Khushi, is also an actress. She has two half-siblings, Arjun (an actor), and Anshula Kapoor from her father’s first marriage.

Kapoor lost her mother when she was just 20. Her mom was found dead due to an accidental drowning in Dubai. Kapoor studied at Ecole Mondiale World School in Mumbai. Before stepping into films, she learned acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in California.

Janhvi Kapoor started her acting journey in 2018 with the movie “Dhadak,” directed by Shashank Khaitan. In this romantic film, she starred alongside Ishaan Khatter. “Dhadak” was a Hindi remake of the Marathi film “Sairat” from 2016. The story revolves around a young upper-class girl who faces tragic consequences after eloping with a lower-class boy, played by Khatter.

In 2022, she appeared in “Good Luck Jerry,” a remake of the 2018 Tamil film “Kolamaavu Kokila,” released on Disney+ Hotstar. Her next film, “Mili,” a remake of the Malayalam film “Helen,” received mixed reviews, and it didn’t perform well at the box office. Kapoor earned another Best Actress nomination at Filmfare for her role.

In 2023, she starred opposite Varun Dhawan in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Bawaal,” a romantic drama released on Amazon Prime Video. Unfortunately, the film faced backlash for trivializing the Holocaust.
